Kuwaiti CCTV course

The Hampshire-based security systems training company Tavcom has completed a CCTV and Control Room Operations training course for 180 Kuwaiti students.

The contract to carry out the course, which is part of two years of training for Kuwaitis who are looking to take on security roles in the gas and oil market sector, was awarded to Tavcom by Risk Management & Security Consultancy Co. W.L.L (RIMSCO), a Kuwaiti security and risk consulting company.

Carried out over two weeks, the course comprised a mix of classroom training and ‘hands-on’ experience using purpose built workstations which simulated a control room, besides visits to the Shuiba Oil Refinery which gave the students chance to appreciate a ‘live’ control room.

Paul Tennent, Managing Director of Tavcom, said: “We are of course delighted to have been awarded this contract which we won despite stiff competition from a large number of other training companies, most of which were locally based. We had just three weeks to produce the detailed course itinerary and materials but David White, who was our lead tutor for the contract, supported by four other members of the hand-picked Tavcom training team, did an excellent job preparing for and conducting the course.

“RIMSCO have fed back to us their satisfaction as the quality of the training we have provided, but it has to be said that our ability to do so was underpinned by the help we received from RIMSCO personnel who could not be more helpful in respect of the logistics and management of the students.”
