IQ forum

Industry Qualifications held its first Security Sector Development Forum at the National Skills Academy for Hospitality Centre in Coventry. IQ adds that it’s the first awarding organisation to release details of the requirements for top-up training for door supervisors.

Sallyann Baldry, Head of Business Development at IQ, said: “The Forum is an important part of IQ’s strategy to involve and engage its centres and member. The Forum is designed to provide up to date information to our partner centres and members on issues affecting security education, develop networking opportunities and most importantly providing an opportunity for attendees to influence policy and development. The event is free to partners and will be held on a six monthly basis.”

Speakers at the first event included Tony Holyland and Karimah Pedro from the Security Industry Authority. Tony gave an update on progress towards the launch of the new approach to licensing and Karimah updated attendees on identity checking. Debbie Mallinson, Qualifications Development Manager at IQ provided details of the new qualification unit for top up training for door supervisors and Raymond Clarke, provided an overview of the IQ philosophy and approach to partnership and launched the IQ Stakeholder Investment Programme and IQ fast track which guarantees results in two days.

“Aside from the early view of the current thinking on licensing and the door supervision top up, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the open session,” said Baldry. “Many ideas for new qualifications products came to the fore, along with suggestions to further improve IQ services. Most importantly we saw the emergence of a network of providers sharing ideas with each other.”
