Hire date

by Mark Rowe

After last year’s Hire Convention, organiser Hire Association Europe and Event Hire Association (HAE EHA) is to return to Loughborough’s Holywell Park on September 21 and 22, 2016. The theme for the two-day event will be ‘Smarter – Safer – Stronger’, relevant to anyone the organisers say working within construction, facilities management, maintenance and events including independents and general hire companies.

On the agenda include a widening skills gap and attracting new talent into the sector through a Future Hirers scheme, supported by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). All HAE EHA members are required to be SafeHire accredited by January 2018. Topics will include raining in sales, customer service and digital marketing, and theft prevention.

Graham Arundell, HAE EHA’s managing director, says: “The Hire Convention surpassed expectations in 2015 and we’re committed to ensuring that this success continues. We’re talking to our membership and have formed a steering committee to help us shape this year’s event. As the only event of its kind to bring together hire businesses in the plant, tool and event sectors there will be a real emphasis on delivering quality content and networking opportunities. The Hire Convention 2016 offers the perfect platform for the industry to come together in one place to meet, learn and share best practise.”

With over 300 m2 of indoor space and an outdoor area there is space for more than 60 companies to demonstrate their products and services. In 2015 the exhibitors included everything from tool hire companies, plant equipment providers, utilities, Health & Safety advisors and training providers to generators, lighting towers, portable sanitation, trackway and scaffolding.
