FM training

by Mark Rowe

Regent Samsic has expanded its staff training and development into facilities management (FM) services.

Facilities managers have responsibilities for providing a myriad of services, and Regent Samsic says that it recognised that its managers and team leaders would benefit from the opportunity to develop their own skills and knowledge within the FM discipline.

The company sought also to give its staff an opportunity to study for recognised qualifications within the industry and develop skills for their own and the company’s benefit.

After four open days and induction process, at the company’s headquarters in Coventry, over 40 members of the Regent cleaning and security management teams are attending Level 2 and 3 advanced apprenticeship schemes in FM run by South Thames College. Subjects covered by senior management training to Level 3 qualification include customer services, risk assessment, operational performance, recruitment, leadership, and health and safety.

Contract Managers and Team leaders working to attaining Level 2 qualification in facilities services are covering a wider range of operational skills including team work and resources.

Bozena Wojciechowska, HR Director/Quality & Environmental Manager at Regent Samsic, says: “We see many advantages in adopting these schemes. All participants will be able to develop their own teams to compete in the marketplace while management and team leaders share common skills sets and knowledge to deliver to our customer base.”

And South Thames College Manager, Employment Skills, Mary Schramm, says: “These courses will help improve Regent staff performance and professionalism and demonstrate to clients and its teams that staff operate to quality standards. Regent’s staff have been quick to get on board with the opportunity to gain new skills to meet fresh challenges as the company’s broadens its service offer.”
