Dog of the year

by Mark Rowe

National Association of Security Dog Users (NASDU) trials are running at The National Trust, Polesden Lacey, Great Bookham, near Dorking, Surrey, RH5 6BD on Thursday, September 5. Competitors either experienced or novice are drawn from those working in the security industry as employees or as self-employed handlers; contract guarding and in house sectors are represented.

The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals is to inaugurate their award of Security Dog of the Year and present it to the NASDU Trials Champion. The NASDU describes the event as a relaxed fun day out set in the rural settings of the Surrey hills. Competitors are all working security dog handlers and entrants range from the experienced to the novice handler.

The day consists of handler protection in the morning with agility and obedience in the afternoon and spectators are most welcome throughout the day. Any member wishing to compete in the Trials and challenge for the “Security Dog of the Year” Award should get their application into Head Office as soon as possible as entrants are limited to a maximum of 16.
