have received their degree certificates. They graduated during a week of ceremonies at the Wycombe Swan Theatre, in High Wycombe, in September.

The Foundation Degree started in 2006 and is aimed at security people who are looking to do their own continuing professional development, or possibly to make a career change into the industry.

This year’s graduating students were Ben Brobby, Paul Graves, Aaron King, Shane Loup, Inderjit Nagra, Sean Parker, Boris Saveljic, Adam Smith, and Denis Webbe. The masters degree graduating students were Robert Clarke; Carl Dakin, Tony Duncan, and Jon Jacobsen, with Neil Swinyard-Jordan and Owen Gregory graduating in absentia.

Angela Vernon-Lawson, Course Leader for the Foundation Degree in Protective Security Management, said: “Many of the graduates aspire to secure managerial roles in one of the many areas of security, from protective security to maritime and residential security, in a range of positions, and the course teaches many skills transferable to other disciplines. Many also move on to one of the BA, MSc or diploma qualifications we offer at the University.” And Phil Wood MBE, Course Leader for the Master’s Degree in Business Continuity, Security and Emergency Management, said: “This was an outstanding group of professionals from a range of resilience-related professional disciplines and we are proud of and delighted for them as they have achieved this particular career and educational milestone. The challenges facing students in demanding operational roles who are required to undertake a Masters degree and all of the attendant research should not be underestimated, and this group rose admirably to those challenges. The programme is increasingly popular and demand has increased significantly for the two cohorts which recruit in each academic year.”
