Award at curry night

by Mark Rowe

The Security Institute, the UK-based membership body for security people, will announce the winner of The John Aplin Award at its annual Christmas Curry evening on Tuesday, December 17.

The John Aplin Award is presented to the student who has achieved the highest marks in the Certificate of Security Management during 2013. The finalists are: Neil Littler, Andrew Moore, Lee Trumper, Pete Goode, Keith Denton, Jodie Acty, Kelereng Busang and Gerrard Isherwood.

Security Institute Chairman Emma Shaw CSyP said: “The John Aplin Award is presented to the Student of the Year and this year we are making the presentation at one of our key events where a broad cross section of our members will be in attendance. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to meet and catch up in an informal setting and congratulate one of our newer members at the early stages of their security career.”

The Institute Certificate in Security Management is the Institute’s own qualification, resulting in a BTEC Level 3 Professional Award in Security Management, awarded by the exam body Edexcel. It’s available by Distance Learning and is delivered by Perpetuity Training on behalf of the institute. John Aplin was instrumental in developing NVQs in the security industry.
