Apprenticeship recognition

by Mark Rowe

The facilities management company Mitie has been recognised as a top employer in the Apprenticeship Careers awards. The FM company was awarded the status of a Top 10 Apprenticeship Employer in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), and an overall Top 50 Apprenticeship Employer in the UK.

Mitie’s technical apprenticeship programme, which was formed in 2001, has a 98 per cent retention rate with many of their apprentices going on to senior management and director level positions in the company.

Peter Mosley, Managing Director of Mitie’s Technical Facilities Management business, said: “By investing in the next generation of engineers and support staff we are creating a talent pipeline that will future-proof our business, and our clients’ businesses, for years to come. Our apprentices experience work on live contracts whilst studying for NVQ and SVQ, key skills and BTEC qualifications. This creates confident and skilled graduate apprentices with the best possible start to their careers.”
