Apprentices to Denmark

by Mark Rowe

The third and last group of apprentices from across 17 Electronic Security Systems companies around the UK have returned from EU-funded work experience to Denmark, the first such programme funded through the Leonardo Mobility Programme for Skills for Security. This was run with the Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology, Bravida, a systems installation company in Scandinavia, and the Leonardo da Vinci National Agency.

The 14 days in Copenhagen, the Danish capital gave participants the opportunity to experience operational practices overseas and participate in activities to enhance and develop their skills in the installation of security systems. They stayed in Danhostel Amager youth hostel, with their accompanying adult John Stanton, and worked alongside Bravida’s engineers in the Copenhagen area.

Some feedback received:

John Stanton – Group 3 Accompanying Adult
“A great opportunity for apprentices to gain experience in the way other counties carry out the same duties that are done in England. The apprentices have gained valuable experience and knowledge which they can use to develop their own skills. Bravida made us very welcome and were eager to share their experiences with our apprentices. They were also keen to learn how we did the job back in England. The apprentices did themselves and their companies proud. We all would like to thank DBI and Skills for Security for all the hard work they have put in to organise this experience.”

Saqib Iqbal – Boss Security Services – Group 3 Apprentice
“Had good two weeks in Denmark and working with Bravida. The engineers shared their expertise and experiences also we shared our knowledge with the Bravida engineers. Would recommend it to any groups going in the future.”

The Group 3 participants are (left to right): Josh Thompson-Dixon, Thompson AVC; Christopher Walker, Lincoln Security; Joseph Grewcock, Lincoln Security; Saqib Iqbal, Boss Security; Amair Zamir, Thompson AVC; Ryan Jenkins, Chubb Fire & Security (Cardiff Branch); Nathan Sefton, Chubb Fire & Security (Tipton Branch)
