Nedap E-Parking License detects abuse of parking spaces for disabled and permit holders

by msecadm4921

Nedap expands the SENSIT system for wireless parking occupancy detection with a revolutionary innovation called “SENSIT E-Parking License”. The EPL increases easy traffic guiding to available spaces and enforcement of parking spaces designed for disabled and  permit holders. This solution increases the parking service and enforcement of parking spaces especially established for specific vehicle groups. Nedap AVI will introduce this parking innovation at Intertraffic Amsterdam.

SENSIT wireless parking occupancy detection of individual spaces is already available to allow for easy traffic guiding to available spaces and efficient enforcement in on-street applications. With E-Parking License, the SENSIT system can also detect if a parking space is legitimately used by the right target group. The E-Parking License improves efficient enforcement of parking bays, ensuring optimal availability of parking bays for the target group they are established for. Abuse of parking bays for disabled and permit holders is easily detected and can efficiently be infringed.

Nedap’s E-Parking License is a device which detects legitimate use of parking bays. It is a small in-vehicle device placed behind the windshield of the vehicle to also allow for visible verification by enforcement officers. As soon as the vehicle is parked in a parking bay, the EPL contacts the wireless SENSIT network to register that the vehicle has parked in the designated bay. When a parking space is occupied by a vehicle, however the required E-parking license is not detected, the SENSIT system will alert an parking officer. The parking officer can be directed to the parking space for verification and to issue a fine.

The E-Parking License increases the parking service and enforcement of parking spaces especially established for permit holders and specific groups such as disabled. The EPL identification technology has a wide application area for urban areas, airports, shopping centers, hospitals and councils offering disabled bays. Nedap will introduce the SENSIT E-Parking License to its audience during Intertraffic Amsterdam from 27 till 30 of March 2012.
