Charity golf day

by Mark Rowe

SSR are running their annual Charity Golf Day on Monday, September 21, at West Essex Golf Club, Chingford, on the outskirts of London; postcode E4 7QL.

This is a challenging 18 hole Championship Parkland Course designed by James Braid. All money raised will go to Hostage UK. It’s a charity which aims to support hostages and their families by providing specialist and pastoral care, during and after kidnap. Hostage UK was founded by the former hostage Terry Waite CBE.

Organiser Peter French of SSR says: “The day will start from 8:30am for registration, where you can enjoy a breakfast roll, and tea or coffee. Warm up/practice facilities are available before the first tee time of 09:30. It will be an individual full handicap competition over 18 holes to decide the prizes. There will be 2 nearest the pin prizes on selected holes. Once your round is complete, you will be able to enjoy a two course dinner, with prize giving and auction to follow. The price will be £60 per individual player, with a concession for four-balls booked at £220.

“Hotel accommodation is nearby at the Baden-Powell Hotel. Ideal for those of you that were Scouts and Girl Guides! We do have additional sponsorship opportunities available which will help to increase the money we can raise for Hostage UK.”
