Booth door

The steel door manufacturer, Booth Industries, has launched the first of a new range of multi-purpose doors to the architectural, industrial and commercial markets. The Booth ‘Dunscar’ door combines fire, level 2 security, acoustic and blast performance in one product.

Barry Gregson, Commercial Doors Director for Booth Industries said: “We already have an excellent reputation as a leading world-class designer and fabricator of high integrity fire and blast doors, windows, modular wall systems and blast relief panels. However, we are always pushing the envelope, listening to our clients and introducing products to market that meet their stringent demands. The ‘Dunscar’ door is unique in that it satisfies four design criteria in one; fire resistance, security provision, sound attenuation and blast resistance.”

A recently completed project that used the Dunscar door is the phase one of the Tate Modern in London. The contract to fabricate, install and commission the bespoke doors was a joint operation between Booth’s commercial and engineered doors divisions. Booth was sub-contracted by Harrison Jorge, the ‘fit-out’ contractor, to supply 22 special, multi-purpose front-of-house, steel doors and for the commercial doors element, Booth developed a design variation to the ‘Dunscar’ door.

Nick Morson, Projects Manager at Booth’s Commercial Doors Division, said: “The design brief was very demanding. We were able to fully satisfy all design and aesthetic requirements, using our breadth of product performance certification and design and build capabilities.” A second addition to the multi-purpose door product range is due to be launched by Booth Industries in a couple of months, which will be a fire rated, 50dB high acoustic, level 3 security, 10kPa blast door with a special architectural feature.
