The University of Leeds is advertising for a head of security services. Salary: scale from £45,155 to £52,347 depending on experience. The university writes:
We are seeking an exceptional individual to be responsible for the strategic leadership, management and development of the Security Service and its staff. In addition the remit requires the provision of authoritative advice on security matters, including direct liaison with and support for senior management on a wide range of security issues. <br><br>Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience/qualifications, you will have previous senior management experience within a complex environment, together with demonstrable experience of managing a security operations function. Experience of maintaining public order during sensitive political confrontations and other volatile events and gatherings is essential, as is experience of leading and managing both in-house labour teams and externally contracted staff.<br><br>You will have the proven ability to lead, manage and develop staff effectively, be capable of working within a strategic environment and demonstrate a genuine commitment towards continual service improvement. You will possess strong analytical skills together with an ability to solve complex problems using own initiative, sound judgement and political awareness. An excellent communicator, you will need to demonstrate diplomatic skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships and influence and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes. <br><br>An understanding of higher education would be preferred, but we do not regard it as essential. Experience of working on major infrastructure sites (airports-airlines, retail parks, major sports events) either in a line management or consultancy roles, for corporate or public organisations on border security, or currently working in the Armed Forces or Police Service could well provide the background that we are seeking. <br><br>This is a full-time post.<br><br>For further information and job description please email.
