Robbers don?t necessarily move at one metre per second, a digital CCTV seminar for end users heard.

Robbers don?t necessarily move at one metre per second, and an incident can happen in just a few seconds – reasons for recording at a rate of more than one frame per second, a seminar for end users heard. As for continuity of evidence, are two frames of disjointed, seemingly unconnected events good enough for a court? asked Carlton D?Souza, Director of digital CCTV manufacturer Vigilant Technology UK at the Warwick Castle seminar on September 18. Other speakers were consultant Tim Walton on the installation of Vigilant digital recording at the London Borough of Hillingdon (featured in our September edition) and Dr Kate Grant of Nine Tiles Networks of Cambridge, on the internationally-agreed standards for digital video images – MPEGs (Moving Picture Experts Group) and JPEGs (Joint Photographic Expert Group). Dr Grant, head of the UK delegation to MPEG, explained that it meets internationally to develop standards for the coding and moving of pictures and associated audio that may trigger recording.
