Mesh Enclosure

by msecadm4921

Technocover, part of Technogroup, is aiming to be first to market with a high security mesh panel/enclosure system certificated to LPCB Security Rating 3. The new system has already been tested to LPS 1175 (Issue 6) and passed with a Security Rating 3.

The UltraSecure modular mesh panel/cage system is described by the Powys-based firm as space-efficient and cost-effective, to meet the need for mesh enclosures to Security Rating 3 (SR3).

The modular design allows the creation of many permutations of climb-resistant mesh protection, from single mesh panels to fully enclosed, 5-sided cages. Suitable for internal or external use, Ultrasecure mesh systems are built from modular components – gates, corner posts, intermediate supports and panel sections from 250mm to 1.0m wide – to closely meet spatial requirements around new or existing installations.

Applications according to the makers include utilities engineering, for the protection of water supply boreholes against crime or infiltration, protection of gas cylinders and secure storage of hazardous chemicals against tampering or theft, and securing power transformers and generators. Technocover asys that it’s engineered generous modularity into the system to allow a range of end-users to configure mesh enclosures to LPCB SR3 for many other applications.

Mesh enclosures are appropriate when the asset owner or agent needs to have ready sight of equipment or stored materials, and/or to keep a process or installation ventilated.

Full cage (5-sided, including roof) structures range from a minimum 0.53m wide by 0.53m long by 1.0m high, up to a maximum 6m wide by 12m long by over 3m high, with any size options in between. Cage entry is in the form of a single or double gate.

Five-sided UltraSecure mesh systems provide a stand-alone secure enclosure or shroud over existing structures requiring protection to LPCB SR3. Four-sided configurations (three vertical panels plus roof) are suitable for the protection of items installed against external walls. Three-sided structures (two vertical panels plus roof) can be mounted either internally or externally to protect corner installations, or as an entry control bay for dual verification within access control systems. Panels can also be used in pairs (either two vertical or vertical plus roof) for protection of storage or equipment to LPCB SR3.

In simple panel form, the UltraSecure mesh unit can be mounted either internally or externally to shield existing structures such as windows, louvers or ventilation units, or to enhance the protection of composite walls or expanses of roof. It can also be used to section off areas within enclosures or rooms as an internal LPCB SR 3 security barrier, either with or without access gates.

While the system’s modularity allows many configurations to suit specific site needs, every possible permutation of the UltraSecure mesh cage system meets the stringent design and testing standards of LPS 1175: Issue 6 to LPCB SR 3.

Technocover director, Michael Miles, said: “Our forthcoming UltraSecure mesh panel range demonstrates our commitment not only to creating new security solutions to LPCB’s trusted and widely recommended standard, but to creating opportunities for cost-efficiency in specifying certificated security.”

This cost-efficiency includes the option of different Duragalv post-galvanised finishes to provide a minimum 25 years service life or longer in relation to regional atmospheric corrosivity.

All components are hot dip post-galvanised, ie corrosion-proofed after manufacture, with a Duragalv zinc coating to BS1461 for a minimum 25 years service life. Extra thick specifications of the Duragalv coating are available to meet the required service life in aggressive environments, eg coastal. UltraSecure mesh panels also come with the option of a powder coated or paint finish to suit aesthetic considerations.
