Electronic Door

by msecadm4921

Stanley Security Products is adding to its access control range with the launch of its new ePAC™ Cylinder.

This stand-alone electronic cylinder lock has been designed to ease the task of key management in, for example, commercial office and industrial applications, tenanted buildings, schools and hospitals.

Installers can use it as a retro-fit product; the ePAC Cylinder can turn a mechanical cylinder into an electronic proximity cylinder in just minutes and can replace key-based manual cylinders in a door’s existing mortice casing without having to replace the entire lock. Once fitted, it removes the need for cylinder swapping in the event of lost or stolen keys and eliminates key cutting and multiple key storing for building owners, the makers say.

The three-part cylinder comprises an Electronic Cylinder with built-in proximity reader, a thumb turn in solid brass nickel and a Euro profile, brass nickel plated mechanical cylinder in varying lengths from 30/30mm up to 70/70mm. A simple push click action assembles all three components.

The Electronic Cylinder reads KeyPAC (125KHz) proximity technology and with in-built wireless capability it can be connected with iPAC and PAC 500 Series controllers (using the Wireless Module), offering the opportunity to control door access in larger integrated PAC systems. A user can administer with one set of programming cards able to control multiple ePAC Cylinders in the same building.

The Wireless Module can be discretely installed above the door, for example in the roof cavity and, when used with PAC access control software such as SecureNet or EasiNet Residential systems, the ePAC Cylinder offers full door control for up to 75,000 keyholders. It can also monitor and record keyholder information such as time profiles, access groups, passage mode, door status and area management.

With secure encrypted communication used between the ePAC Cylinder and Wireless Module, if communication is lost the cylinder will automatically revert to standalone mode using an internally pre-programmed keyholder list of up to 200 users.

Available through Stanley Security Products’ reseller and installer channel, the ePAC Cylinder provides security for a range of building applications such as server rooms or directors’ offices where restricted access is required.
