Document Destruction

by msecadm4921

Shred-it Manchester, the North West on-site document destruction company, announced that sales turnover has now exceeded £3.1 million between January and July 2009.

The figures represent an increase of 22 per cent on sales turnover on the corresponding period in 2008. Shred-it is an information security company providing document destruction services

The firm, which has its UK corporate headquarters in Manchester across two locations in Trafford Park and Sale operates a network of 15 branches nationwide with over £21m of annualised revenues.

The Manchester branch achieved an 18 per cent year on year growth and accomplished turnover of £4.3 million at the end of 2008. It reports a string of new client wins during 2009.

In a three-year framework agreement it has become the preferred provider of on-site document destruction services for the North West region’s NHS and Primary Care Trusts.

The agreement has been awarded by the North West Collaborative Commercial Hub (NWCPH), the organisation responsible for raising standards in procurement on behalf of over 50 NHS trusts in the North West. Shred-it Manchester estimates the deal will generate up to £250,000 in additional revenues before 2010.

Other North-West based companies to have hired Shred-it Manchester as their preferred provider of secure document destruction services during the first half of the year including organisations in central and local government functions and the banking, retail and business service sectors.

The branch now provides document destruction services to a total of 3,500 regular customers and occasional users throughout the North West, 20 per cent up on June 2008.

Manchester branch, opened in 2001, has already seen it recruit 17 new staff since January 2009, taking its Manchester based total headcount to over 65, with plans to create a significant number of additional new roles during the remainder of 2009 both in the North West Region and throughout its UK branch locations. The Manchester branch was also recently awarded the prize for Shred-it’s Global Branch of the Year for 2009, beating off competition from across the firm’s 140 operating sites within the Shred-it global network.

Neil Percy, Customer Service and Operations Manager (UK) based at Shred-it Manchester, said: "The phenomenal performance of the Manchester branch reflects the growing awareness and understanding among businesses in the North West of the potential financial and reputational risks posed by the prospect of a security breach in the safe disposal of confidential data.

"The Manchester operating business is playing a key role in driving the growth of Shred-it across the UK as a whole. Indeed, we actually believe that the turnover of our Manchester branch alone now exceeds the entire UK turnover of any of our industry competitors.

"Our combination of innovative document destruction services and unrivalled security compliance standards, delivered direct to our customers’ doorsteps, is undoubtedly welcomed, recognised and valued by our clients in the North West."
