The latest SRI (Security Research Initiative) survey has begun; its subject, ‘security excellence’. Organiser Prof Martin Gill is encouraging people from all over the world, and working in any part of security, to take part. He writes:
“The latest survey under the umbrella of the Security Research Initiative has been launched. The theme this year is about the drivers of security excellence; what makes some corporate security departments and some security suppliers excellent at what they do, and what are the barriers for others? All those who work in any aspect of security are asked to help complete the on line survey which will take about 10 minutes. The link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LH2DZ8J
“Whatever role you play in security and at whatever level we would really appreciate it if you would take the time to complete the survey. We will willingly provide those who take part with a copy of the results (free). The survey this year is being completed by security professionals across the world.”

Previous research
Bundled services – having security as one of many facilities management services, in a ‘bundle’ rather than a contract in its own right. Good or bad? A smarter way of working, or a sign of the times – that costs count more than quality of service? Bundling was the subject for the previous SRI work featured in the November 2013 print issue of Professional Security magazine.
Other topics have included financial investigation; staff dishonesty; the global market in stolen fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG); property marking, crime at ATM machines; and brand protection.
