Survival factory visit

by Mark Rowe

Llanelli MP Nia Griffith visited the factory of survival equipment firm BCB International Ltd. The Llangennech firm makes ballistic protective underwear (‘Blast Boxers’) and self-inflating body armour. On her visit Ms Griffith saw the production lines of the company’s eco-friendly fire-lighting fuels for backpacking and military stoves as well as a newly launched range of survival matches.

She was shown around by BCB’s Managing Director, Andrew Howell. Afterwards Mr Howell said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Nia Griffith to our facility here in Llangennech where we are making novel products. Our ‘FireDragon’ fuels are ideal for anyone who wants to start a camp fire, warm up their drinks and cook their food in all-weather conditions without producing and inhaling toxic fumes.”

He added that the company has just started the production of survival matches: “Unlike standard matches, our survival matches can burn through wind and rain. We are also producing smoke matches which are designed for multiple uses like location marking, ventilation testing and the lighting of pyrotechnics.”

Nia Griffith said : “Having myself spent time out on the hills struggling with messy camping stoves, I really appreciate what BCB have produced ….just what you need when you are out camping in unpredictable conditions….the very compact Firedragon fuel and amazing waterproof matches, so you can brew up in no time, no matter what the weather. Non toxic, safe and easy to use, I can see these products will be a great hit with young people doing Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, as well as a real boon for our armed forces. I hope we will now see substantial orders from the Ministry of Defence, which will help secure jobs here.” Vsiit www.bcbin.com.
