Regional meets

by Mark Rowe

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) regional meetings provide a link between the NSI executive and its NACOSS Gold approved companies within their respective regions. NSI reports a new chairman and assistant chairman for the southern region. Ten UK regions offer a forum for debate, industry updates and discussions on best practice. The meetings take place on average, every six months.

Each region has a chairman and assistant nominated from NSI NACOSS Gold companies within the regions. The ten assistant chairmen also sit on NSI’s Regional Technical Liaison Committee; so that technical issues raised at these meetings are reported on at NSI Regional Meetings. Southern region has recently elected Andrew Hogger, pictured, and Brian Cottrell as chairman and assistant.

Andrew, Director of Slough-based Universal Security Group, has been employed in the security industry since a teenager, when he began working for the family business. Universal Security Group provides intruder, CCTV and access control for commercial and domestic properties. Andrew now runs the ‘Alarm’ department within Universal.

Brian was recently appointed Quality Manager for Orion Security Solutions, Oxford, a company providing fire, intruder, CCTV and access control. Brian previously spent 20 years with a high street retailer dealing with all aspects of physical, electrical and manned security.

The next NSI south meeting is due at the NSI offices in Maidenhead on Thursday, September 19. This regional meeting is open to all NSI NACOSS Gold and Systems Silver approved companies within the region. Among other topics: an overview of the requirements for intruder alarm installers wishing to diversify their certification to include fire.
