Portsmouth conference

Tuesday, June 3 is the date of the annual Centre for Counter Fraud Studies conference at the University of Portsmouth.

Practitioners, academics and researchers offer papers to their peers. Speakers this year will include:

Mark Surguy (Partner Eversheds) International Fraud: Is the Law Keeping Up?
Dr Saskia Hufnagel (Lecturer, University of London) Art Fraud in Comparative International Perspective
Jim Gee, BDO, Counter Fraud 2020: A 12-point plan for countering fraud
Dr Cassandra Cross (Queensland University of Technology) “They’re not alone”: The value of volunteers in providing support to fraud victims
Ben Reid (DWP) Britain’s New Fraud Prosecutors: Fraudsters Beware.

Meet the author

Dr Janice Goldstraw-Right (Independent consultant): will be examining the motivations, rationality and after-thoughts of convicted fraudsters.

Others among the 30 speakers include: Nicholas Davidson QC, Yuriy Timofeyev, Audrius Sapola, whose article on telephone fraud featured in the February 2014 issue of Professional Security Magazine; Stephen Evans, Professor Mark Button at Portsmouth, and Professor Lisa Jack. The conference will also include contributions from convicted fraudsters.

A limited number of slots available for those who have conducted research or have innovative ideas to present papers; on forensic accounting, technology and countering fraud, psychology and fraud, and corruption, and sport and corruption. Students who have recently completed dissertations on a subject they would like to raise the profile of are also encouraged.
