IFSEC 2014 hailed

by Mark Rowe

UBM Live, IFSEC organisers, have hailed the inaugural year at ExCeL London. More than 40,000 attendees came through the doors as part of Protection & Management 2014, which is also the fire show FIREX International, Facilities Show, Energy & Environment Expo, Safety & Health Expo and Service Management Expo, alongside IFSEC.

Protection & Management 2014 opened with a first day of 19,544 visitors through the doors, a rise of 23 per cent on 2013, at the NEC. More than 1700 exhibitors showcased.

IFSEC drew 22,627 total attendees which breaks down as a 5.2 per cent increase in visitors, 29 per cent increase of end-users, and 37 per cent of visitors attending from overseas. Alongside the increase in these key visitor groups, IFSEC claims also to have maintained UK visitors as the show took place in the capital. The UKTI Events Alliance was at the show for the first time.

Visitor demographics proved that budgets in 2014 have increased with 32 per cent of attendees having a budget in excess of £1m and 10 per cent have a budget greater than £10m. Overall budgets have increased by 8.6 per cent, demonstrating the security industry growth, the organisers claim.  Stand out trends from visitor interest included an increase in demand to see integrated security, intruder alarms, physical security and perimeter protection.

More than 87 per cent of the floor plan has been rebooked for 2015, with returning exhibitors including: Tyco, Xtralis, Axis Communications, Milestone, Canon, CSL DualCom, BT Redcare, Pelco, Paxton, Pyronix, Texecom, Avigilon, RISCO, UTC, IDIS, Y3K, Bosch, Salto, ASSA ABLOY and TDSi.

IFSEC 2014 marked the launch of the Safe Cities Conference as a conference and exhibition for the security requirements of a city rather than its components. Case studies for London were presented to help shape the contribution and interaction from other global cities around the security challenges they face.

In addition six dedicated education theatres were across the show floor and included: IFSEC Global.com Centre Stage showcasing the biggest names in the industry, ipAssured Education Zone, Smart Buildings Theatre, Convergence Solutions Theatre, Tavcom Training Theatre and the Risk & Security Management Theatre.

Gerry Dunphy, Event Director for IFSEC & FIREX International, said: “IFSEC International 2014 has gone above and beyond everyone’s expectations; we set the bar high and wanted to demonstrate that this is the next chapter of IFSEC. Response from both visitors and exhibitors to the new venue, features and education has been hugely positive. We’ve already made a great start towards 2015 with 87 per cent of the floor plan booked and look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.”

IFSEC International 2015 runs from June 16 to 18, at ExCeL London. For more about IFSEC International 2015, visit www.ifsec.co.uk. To discuss stand and sponsorship at IFSEC International 2015 contact Tristan Norman, Group Sales Manager [email protected] or call 020 7921 8285.
