Hotel officer of year

by Mark Rowe

Stan Sudek is the Institute of Hotel Security Management (IHSM) officer of the year.

Stan, who’s worked at the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, in Portman Square, since 2009, was on holiday on the night in November 2014 when a suspected gas explosion injured several people and forced an evacuation. He cut short that holiday to return to the five-star W1 hotel, and to help organise security.

Pictured left to right are IHSM vice-chairman Darren Carter, Head of Group Security at Edwardian, and Stan Sudek. Darren was standing in for chairman and head of the judges Karl Spiers, the recently retired director of security at The Churchill who could not attend last Friday’s meeting at Simpson’s in the Strand.

For more words and photos, see the January 2016 print issue of Professional Security magazine.
