Esoteric founder in finals

by Mark Rowe

Emma Shaw, founder of Esoteric Ltd, the counterespionage and electronic sweeping company, has been selected as a finalist in the “Director of the Year” category at the Toast of Surrey Awards 2013.

These annual awards are sponsored by the Surrey Advertiser newspaper. The ‘Director of the Year’ award is sponsored by the Institute of Directors. Emma was selected as a finalist for her work as Managing Director of Esoteric Ltd as well as commitment to professional development through her voluntary work with numerous security bodies and helping develop industry standards.

Esoteric Ltd became the first company to be awarded the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) Gold Standard for Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TCSM) services. In 2010, Esoteric Ltd was invited into the Risk Management Delivery Group (RMDG), a partnership programme established by the UK’s Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) aimed at creating links with UK consultancies.

On a personal level, Emma has obtained an MBA from the University of Surrey and became the first female Chartered Security Professional admitted to the Register of Chartered Security Professionals in June 2011.

Emma Shaw said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been selected as a finalist for this prestigious award. It is a significant achievement to be included amongst the other respected and renowned finalists. Whatever the ultimate outcome of the awards, to have received this recognition is a tremendous honour.” Winners are announced on the night of the Toast of Surrey Awards 2013 on Thursday, March 7, at G-Live, Guildford.
