Electrical register

by Mark Rowe

Two electrical contracting sector bodies, the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA), and the Electrical Safety Council (ESC), have jointly launched the “Electrical Safety Register.”

The bodies describe the register as an on-line resource for anyone looking to find a competent electrical contractor. The ECA and ESC add that all contractors listed have been assessed to ensure they meet the technical standards.

According to the ECA and ESC this alliance between the sector trade association, an electrical consumer charity and a certification body, will provide greater clarity to the consumer and specifier and a consolidated voice to government on common issues.

The new Register, accessed via www.electricalsafetyregister.com will include both domestic and commercial contractors and brings together the current NICEIC,ELECSA and ECA certification schemes, whose 33,000 registered contractors are responsible for 80 per cent of domestic electrical work in the UK.

The Register also includes 3,000 ECA members who have the support of the sector trade association, including the ECA Guarantee of Work, Warranty and Bond Schemes. For more about the scheme and members visit – http://www.electricalsafetyregister.com/industry.html
