by Mark Rowe

Members of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Export Council are planning to display to visitors at the Intersec 2014 show in Dubai (January 19-21). Among BSIA member companies, many are concentrated on the BSIA-organised UK Security Pavilion – 40pc larger than in 2013 – as they seek to expand their business operations in the region. To find out more about the BSIA’s Export Council and its members – visit the BSIA’s stand at Intersec in Dubai – S1-540C – or you can learn more by logging on to www.bsia.co.uk/export-council.

At last year’s edition 80pc of Export Council members witnessed growth or the same level of visitor numbers compared to 2012. The BSIA – which is attending for the 16th year – planning to have members on hand across the three-day show to offer face-to-face advice, and guidance, on the latest products and services that British security businesses have to offer.

The BSIA’s Export Council has again conducted its annual ‘State of the Nation’ survey considering global export trends. This confirmed that the region sits top of the agenda as the primary market being targeted by members for growth over the next 12 months. In addition, Intersec ranks amongst the most important overseas exhibition for members with 90pc confirming, when questioned, that they attended the 2013 event.

The Export Council’s Chairman, Greg Stuttle, pictured, says: “Intersec provides the ideal opportunity for companies to underline the innovative solutions they can offer to customers across the Middle East and beyond. The scope of member companies’ expertise is certainly impressive with industry leaders well represented across areas as diverse as: video management software, biometric access control systems, turnstiles, perimeter protection and switch mode power supplies, all planning to exhibit.

“It is important to stress that there is the reassurance of dealing with professional, quality, companies that have gone through rigorous accreditation and credential checks and, crucially, are at the forefront of compliance with relevant industry standards.”

Looking in more detail at some of the highlights of products and services that will be displayed by BSIA’s Export Council members at Intersec 2013 and the thoughts of members on the show and wider region:

Synectics – www.synecticsuk.com (Stand: S1-405C) – is predicting, in the lead-up to Intersec, that the adoption of evolved surveillance integration technology could help to boost the Middle East’s appeal as a global investment hub by keeping the region’s assets safer and improving operational efficiencies: “Surveillance systems have evolved to offer more than basic image capture. They can now integrate with multiple safety, alarm and operational systems to enable a 360 degree perspective of a given site and that has big implications, ” says Paul Webb, Managing Director of Synectics. In terms of specific on stand innovations at Intersec 2014, Synectics confirms that it is to highlight the new COEX C200 TriMode camera station alongside its IP camera range and absolute positioning integration capabilities through Synergy. Synectics also plans to preview new functionality found in the, soon-to-be released, Synergy 3, including a fully customizable user interface, enhanced work-flows and improved reporting.
