ASIS spring meet

by Mark Rowe

The London law firm Linklaters was the venue for the spring 2014 meeting of ASIS UK. Pictured left to right are Adrian Eatwell, a former ASIS UK member who was presented with a ‘veteran’ certificate by new chapter chairman Andy Williams of Nomura, who remarked that he like Adrian Eatwell had served in the City of London Police.

Speakers at the afternoon event were Mike Hurst (not the ASIS UK chapter committee man) of CSCSS on IT security; Chris Phillips on Counter Terror Expo; Roger Kember of Witt O’Brien’s; and Claire Willerton, a deputy head of the Security Industry Engagement Team (SIET) within the Office for Security and Counter Terrorism at the Home Office, on security exports, as featured in the April 2014 print issue of Professional Security.

Sharon Williams, Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) lead on the ASIS UK committee, gave an update on the CSyP qualification and ASIS certification.

Members and guests were able to chat afterwards over drinks and food. The chapter’s next quarterly meetings are on June 3 and September 11.
