ABI appointment

by Mark Rowe

The Association of British Investigators (ABI), established in 1913, is a members’ body representing investigators in the private sector.

With the retirement of its long serving General Secretary, Eric Shelmerdine, the ABI has taken the opportunity to revamp its administration. A new approach to the administration, the association says, will increase its overall performance and its functionality with the elected board of directors.

This has taken shape in the appointment of a secretariat team in the greater London area, headed by Tony Imossi, pictured, a former President of the ABI, a keen advocate of training, qualification and business good practice throughout the investigative sector.

Tony says that the secretariat will introduce dynamic changes to the entire administration of the ABI, its governance, transparency and communication, enabling it to continue the objectives set over 100 years ago to provide a compliant environment where the professional, commercial and domestic consumer can safely engage and interact with accountable investigative service providers.

The ABI reports that its membership criteria far exceeds that envisaged by The Home Office had it implemented statutory regulation and which standards led to the sector exclusive endorsement of the ABI by The Law Society of England & Wales, its approved service provider status with The Law Society of Scotland and only investigative organisation approved by the DVLA.

The ABI’s next seminar runs on Friday, September 23, at the Union Jack Club, London SE1 8UJ. For tickets visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/abi-autumn-seminar-2016-tickets-25316521397#tickets. For the programme, visit the ABI website.
