ISO 27001 standard

by Mark Rowe

A provider of outsourced healthcare transcription services, Accuro, has achieved the ISO 27001 information security management standard.

The firm says that this follows investment in its governance framework and software to ensure customers’ data is securely and safely held. North West-based Accuro, which provides outsourcing using more than 400 transcribers, operates a hub to enable insurance providers to safely submit dictation for transcribing. Once completed, the document can then be uploaded back to the hub where it can be securely accessed. ISO 27001 covers the governance of security information and network systems – the firm says that it’s important that it’s properly accredited to confirm that its processes and technology are as safe and secure as possible.

Helen Healiss, managing director for Accuro, said that as the business grows 40pc in revenue terms in 2016, existing and new customers will have the added reassurance that accreditation reflects its practical application of, and commitment to, information security.

She said: “Accreditation is critical to ensuring customers have confidence in the company’s attitude towards data security and protection,” said Helen Healiss. “We’re delighted to have gained ISO 27001 as it underlies our commitment to customers and our paramount focus on security. As well as the underlying message this sends out to new prospective business, it will also help with the procurement process and completing RFP and tender documentation.”
