Home Secretary at CTX

by Mark Rowe

Theresa May was among the visitors to Counter Terror Expo 2014 on Tuesday, April 29. The Home Secretary was accompanied around the event by Lord West, former Chief of the Naval Staff and Minister for Security and Counter-Terrorism from 2007 to 2010 and by Stephen Phipson, the Home Office’s Director of Security Industry Engagement.

The Home Secretary was introduced to a number of exhibiting companies, including members of the Industry Partnership Programme. Now in its sixth edition, Counter Terror Expo also featured a conference, structured this year to reflect the four workstreams of CONTEST, the UK Government’s strategy for countering terrorism – Pursue, Prevent, Protect and Prepare.

Also this year, for the first time, Counter Terror Expo was co-hosted with two other shows, Ambition and Forensics Europe Expo.

Tim Porter, Managing Director of the event organisers Clarion Defence & Security, said: “We were delighted that the Home Secretary was able to join us at Counter Terror Expo 2014. Her decision to visit highlights the fact that the event really has become one of the world’s most important arenas for everyone concerned with counter-terrorism and security.”
