School upgrade

by Mark Rowe

As part of a review of facilities, Brentford School for Girls in the London Borough of Hounslow has upgraded its CCTV.

On site security to protect both people and property was based around traditional analogue CCTV that was reaching the end of its working life. The school wanted to upgrade to an IP based system, using compatible equipment where possible.

Having won the tender for the contract based on its competitive price and service offering, Stanley Security has now installed a High Definition IP based CCTV system internally and externally, which runs across the school’s IT network. The system consists of 14 external bullet cameras with built-in infra-red, eight internal vandal proof mini dome cameras with built in infra-red and three encoders to integrate the three gate cameras. The cameras are recorded on two 16 channel network video recorders with nine terabytes of recording space on each.

The cameras can now be viewed by approved staff members on authorised PCs around the school.

A particularly challenging requirement of the installation was that it be carried out during a short mid-term break for health and safety reasons. With correct specification and planning, Stanley ensured all work on site was carried out by its engineers within the week allotted.
