New student accommodation

by Mark Rowe

Videx, the door entry product company, has won a contract to provide access control to a new student accommodation in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

The development, due to welcome its first residents for the 2016-7 academic year, will provide 123 student flats in Clavering Place, pictured, in the centre of Newcastle.

Steve Natton, Projects Manager at Videx, said: “In partnership with our installation partner, SMT Electrical, we have installed our leading VX2200 digital door entry system to ensure the safety and security of students but also allow easy and convenient access. We provided a high level of support throughout the project so that each stage of the installation went smoothly and any challenges faced were addressed and quickly overcome. All of the client’s requirements were met and their objectives achieved with the new door entry installation.”

The scheme, designed by Newcastle based Intersect Architects, will provide larger than average rooms in a mix of self-contained studio units and en-suite bedrooms in cluster flats, with a range of amenity space including a large communal lounge, study room, television room and gym.
