IFPO UK Advisory Board

The UK branch of the International Foundation for Protection Officers UK (IFPO UK) welcomes two new members of its Advisory Board. They are Garry Bergin and Les Allan.

The board plays a role in determining the direction of IFPO UK, seeking for example to support the education and career development of front-line security officers, supervisors and managers.

Garry Bergin PC; MSc; FSyI; F.ISRM; CPOI®; EMII-M; M.Sec.I.I

A Peace Commissioner appointed by the Minister for Justice and Equality in Ireland, Garry holds an MSc in Security Management and is studying towards a Professional Doctorate at the University of Portsmouth, on the development of training syllabuses for the security industry internationally. Garry works as a Commercial Manager and Security Consultant at Manguard Plus. He has security operations management experience and has managed some of the largest multi-national security contracts in Ireland. He’s also:

• Vice-Chair of ASIS Ireland (Chapter 216)
• Director, Board Member and Lecturer with the Security Institute of Ireland (Since 2011)
• Fellow of the Security Institute (FSyI)
• Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (F.ISRM)
• Member of the SIA Expert Committee on Close Protection
• IFPO Certified Protection Officer Instructor (CPOI)

Les Allan

Les, pictured, is Director of SafeGuarding Services at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh; and is the incoming chair of the Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO), the UK-based industry body for heads of campus security. Heriot-Watt is due to host the next annual conference of AUCSO, postponed from this spring. He was among the speakers at the Security TWENTY event at Glasgow in April 2019, ST19 Glasgow.
