Engagement evening

by Mark Rowe

From 6pm on Tuesday, December 3, UCL SECReT – the University College London, Security Science Doctoral Research Training Centre – is running an evening at Woburn House, 20 Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9HQ.

This event is designed to create mutually beneficial interactions between industry and public-sector bodies, and the students of UCL SECReT. You can gain by accessing some of the brightest minds in the UK to work on real-world research problems central to their own agendas, while students get mentorship, access to data, facilities and practitioner expertise. (The evening includes a briefing for current and prospective partners of the aims, structure and focus of the centre.

UCL’s current batch of 18 students will introduce themselves and their research interests by presenting ‘crime scenarios’ (it will be up the audience to decide which team has done the best job!) The students come from a range of backgrounds and research interests ranging from forensic and computer sciences through to engineering, laws, risk, intelligence and psychology.

The event includes a drinks reception. You can register via – http://www.ucl.ac.uk/secret/SECReT-industry-engagement/ie-2013
