Never mind Brexit – the UK-based industry body for university heads of security reports a diverse and global range of speakers at its latest event, running from April 4 to 6, Tuesday to Thursday. Belgium is the venue for this year’s Association of University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO) conference, at Ghent University. This is the first time that the Association has held its annual event outside the UK and it has attracted some new delegates from Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as existing members from the UK, Ireland, the USA, Poland, Switzerland and Singapore. A guest speaker from Australia who will describe campus security at Monash University.
Conference topics include the ‘Clery Act (USA)’, ‘Student Protest and Occupation (Amsterdam)’, ‘Social Media in a crisis’, ‘Indoor positioning – the latest technology’, ‘travel risks’, ‘InfoSec for OpSec – where the cyber and physical worlds meet’, and ‘Looking forward – the impact of Brexit’.
The conference will end on Thursday evening with a gala dinner and presentation of awards for ‘Security Officer of the Year’, Security Team of the Year’ and ‘Security Initiative of the Year’.
