WCoSP Master installed

by Mark Rowe

The installation of the new Master of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, Yasmeen Stratton, pictured centre, went ahead on Friday, September 11 at the Drapers Hall in the City of London.

While numbers were limited due to UK Government coronavirus guidelines, the ceremony went ahead with the pomp and ceremonial that befits the installation of a new Master and the progression of the Middle and Junior Wardens, Steven Emmins and Paul Miller respectively. Also saw a new Junior Warden, Russell Penny installed.

Set beneath the ceiling paintings, depicting Shakespearean scenes by 19th century artist Herbert Draper, the proceedings were orchestrated by Court Assistant Michael Thwaites acting as The Beadle.

Once Yasmeen Stratton was appointed as Master, the outgoing Master, Michael Barley, was appointed as the Immediate Past Master. The Wardens, having made their declarations were gowned, and badges of office were placed around their necks by the Master.

Jayne Barley then presented the Master’s consort John Stratton, with the Consort’s badge. The Master then presented Jayne with her Past Consort Badge and thanked her for all she had done in her role as the Master’s Lady.

A new apprentice was enrolled; Thomas Layhe made his declaration in front of the new Master, Wardens and members of the Court, and was bound to his Apprentice Master, Liveryman Rob Lockwood. A plated buffet lunch followed, sponsored by Dan Mead, the Director of Security EMEA at Marsh & McLennan Companies.

The ceremony was videoed, that you can view on the Livery Company website, www.wcosp.org.
