Testing platform

by Mark Rowe

AVORD, a platform for bringing security testers and businesses wanting testing together, was featured in the February 2019 print issue of Professional Security magazine. Its founders say it’s aimed particularly at smaller businesses who may struggle to understand the complexities of security testing and afford the costs often quoted by consultancies. The platform is free for businesses to use and enables them to connect with independent, DBS-checked testers who set their own pricing, without third party mark-up.

Brian Harrison, CEO of AVORD, said: “As industries continue to go through a period of rapid digital transformation, many businesses need more code more quickly. But this often leads to buggy code and subsequently poor systems, vulnerabilities, exploits, and failed compliance.

“Today, all companies – of every size – need security testing, so they can better understand their key cyber risks and the associated threats. The unique aspect of security testing, ethical hacking and social engineering ensures that this sector of the IT industry cannot be fully automated. There is a pressing need for a robust testing platform to ensure that processes, systems and applications are configured correctly and free from serious flaws, so ensuring a safe and resilient business, and that is the fundamental reason that we have launched AVORD.”

AVORD is available to all businesses who can register for free at www.avord.com. Through the platform, companies can organise, book and perform almost any type to security test, from software and penetrating testing to code reviews and phishing simulations, ensuring that they adhere to the relevant regulations and standards, such as ISO27001, ISF’s Standard of Good Practice for Information Security, FCA regulations and data protection law.

A dashboard can give at-a glance views of risks, project and test status, profiles of the testing team and findings. Annual budgets can be set, with costs forecast across the year, while real time notifications are sent when tests change status and findings are identified or remediated.
