Shoplifters on TV

by msecadm4921

It’s summer 2012, and as the recession continues and the Olympics looms, the battle between cops and robbers gathers pace across Britain. So say Channel 4 who are broadcasting a new series of their retail shop theft documentary, Secrets of the Shoplifters. York and Brighton are among places featured.

The first episode is broadcast tomorrow, Tuesday, July 31. For details in advance visit the C4 website. The profile of shoplifters is changing, as a female pensioner and a wheelchair user are among the array of characters caught stealing. The film learns about the latest tricks of the shoplifting trade: from ‘bollocksing’ (hiding stolen goods inside your underwear) to stuffing items into a fake cushion.

Steve and Dan, the self-proclaimed Batman and Robin of Brighton seen in the first Secrets of the Shoplifters, are brought in by a local store to help them defeat the lifters who are stealing around £1000 of goods a week.
