Pubwatch launch

by msecadm4921

In Sussex, licensees of Selsey have grouped together to deter and prevent alcohol related disorder. The Selsey Pubwatch Group has been formed to discuss incidents involving crime or disorder in or connected with licensed premises at regular meetings.

Those responsible may be issued a ban by the Group for any period. If the Group decide to ban somebody, they will be banned from all member premises with no exceptions.

The intent is to increase the sharing of information on problem individuals or groups, stop those who cause trouble from entering licensed premises and to make Selsey a warm and welcoming place to go out.

PC Andy Rawlinson, Neighbourhood Constable for Selsey Town, says “It is to the credit of the licensees of Selsey that they’ve taken responsibility for trying to prevent crime and disorder in their Town. They are sending a clear message – if you commit crime here, abuse drugs or disrupt the enjoyment of others having a night out then you will likely be banned. For Selsey in particular, that will be a real challenge for those wanting to socialise – getting out of Selsey for a night out can be time consuming and costly. The economy of Selsey benefits from a large tourist population arriving every year, spending money locally. Nobody wants to see drunken or anti social behaviour and the Selsey Pubwatch Group should go a long way to reducing this type of behaviour.”

Selsey Pubwatch Group consists of:

The Neptune Public House
The Fishermans Joy Public House
The Seal Pub & Restaurant
Bunn Leisure
Selsey Country Club
De Lavante Mediterranean Restaurant and Tapas Bar
The Co-operative Selsey

New members are welcome and can contact Selsey Pubwatch via one of the licensed premises in the group.
