Partnership conference, awards

by Mark Rowe

Milton Keynes is the venue on September 20 for a National Crime Partnership Conference.

This conference at the Jury’s Inn Hotel in MK is being hosted and arranged by Milton Keynes Partners Against Crime and the nearby Cherwell Crime Partnership – Bicester & Kidlington, in Oxfordshire – as a nationwide conference run purely by partnerships for partnerships.

Speakers invited: Richard Stones, ACPO business crime; Rodger Holden, Crimestoppers UK; Liz Hodgkinson, Milton Keynes Licensing Officer; Graeme Milne, South East Counter Terrorism Unit; and Doug Skins, Development Officer, Secure By Design – an ACPO organisation.

Partnership Achievement Awards have been developed to accompany the conference.

The awards recognise achievements within crime partnerships across the country and will be judged by Professional Security Magazine.

There will be an Outstanding Achievement Award with two runners up in each of the two categories (day-time and night-time economies). Each will be awarded a framed certificate to mark the partnership’s achievement and the winning entries will be mentioned in Professional Security Magazine’s article about the conference in the November print issue, giving you nationwide recognition and publicity.

Has your partnership launched an innovative project? Has your partnership seen great success? Do you think your success should be recognised and shared with others? If so, please fill in the application form to get the recognition you deserve.

Below are some guidance points for you to take in to consideration:

•The entry must relate to an event or a project that has taken place between 31st May 2012 and 1st June 2013.
•The entry must be submitted by email before 31st July to [email protected]
•Partnerships may submit two entries under each category (each to be regarding a different project).
•Only entries from partnerships attending the conference will be accepted.
•Please use a black font.
•Please try to include evidence to support your entry.

Organisers write:

Our purpose is to give you not only the opportunity to meet with other partnerships from across the country but also to hear from speakers who have been asked to attend specifically because they can offer us new ways of working more closely with other organisations to improve our partnerships.

As part of the conference, we will be introducing the Partnership Achievement Awards to celebrate partnerships’ successes in the day- and night-time economies. Apply by July 31, 2013. Applications will be judged impartially by Professional Security Magazine – there will be two categories, Day-time and Night-time, with a winner and two runners up in each category. Winners and runners up will receive a framed certificate and will be mentioned in Professional Security’s article about the conference.

The conference is open to all crime partnerships and their associates regardless of affiliation to ABCP, MRCI or any other official bodies and will be run as a ‘not for profit’ event. We are keeping prices as low as possible at £20 per delegate in order to help partnerships to be able to afford to attend – any surplus funds will be donated to Crimestoppers UK, a charity that will benefit us all. The delegate fee will include refreshments throughout the day and a buffet lunch. Don’t forget to bring your business cards to the conference for networking – and there will be a business card raffle, with a magnum of champagne to be won.

We are also pleased to announce that there will be stands from the following exhibitors – Facewatch, MRS Communications Ltd, Apex Radio Systems Ltd, Smye-Rumsby Radio Communications, Crimestoppers and the Bank of England.

Please contact the Jury’s Inn direct [tel: 01908 843700] if you would like to book overnight accommodation – early bird offers are available. Parking is limited at the hotel, however additional free parking will be available at Midsummer Place Shopping Centre which is a short walk away from the venue. Please ensure that you include your car registration details on the reply form and park on the top floor of the car park.
