Midwich takes stake in DVS

by Mark Rowe

Midwich, the audio visual distributor to the trade market, has acquired a majority stake in Cooper Projects Limited, the parent company of DVS, the UK distributor of video security products.

Stephen Fenby, Midwich Group Managing Director, said: “The acquisition of DVS gives Midwich access to a significant segment of the Security market in which we currently have little presence, and which is expected to grow at around 8pc per annum for the next five years. The knowledge and support of the experienced DVS team should help realise new opportunities for our customers in an increasingly converging technology market. Similarly, we believe that much of DVS’s extensive customer base uses or could use our core AV products in their projects. We are very excited at the prospect of supporting Tim, Gavin, David and the rest of the DVS team in accelerating the growth of the business.”

Tim Goodson, Managing Director of DVS said: “At DVS we have always had ambitious growth plans and combining with Midwich gives us a unique offering to both of our loyal customer bases. The Midwich team quickly grasped the understanding of our available technologies and how they could also be used by their own customers in an ever-converging space. We are super excited to be part of the Midwich group which has a wealth of experience and knowledge that we can utilise to make sure our ambitious plans are met as we look to grow DVS.”

The DVS management team of Tim Goodson, Gavin Dunleavy (Commercial Director) and David Davies (Chief Technology Officer) will maintain a stake in the business. Gavin Dunleavy said: “Both DVS and Midwich coming together as market leaders and specialists in their respective fields is something I am incredibly excited about. With the Security and AV sectors growing ever closer we can increase our offering to both of our customer bases whilst increasing the high levels of service our customers expect. The clear synergy with culture and values made this the perfect fit for me as we move forward with the same focus for the future of DVS.”

And Mark Lowe, Midwich UK & Ireland Managing Director, said: “I am delighted to be welcoming Tim, Gavin and the DVS team to the Midwich Group. The security market is an exciting place, and this acquisition presents abundant opportunities for our respective customers and vendor partners. DVS’s focus on delivering the very best service mirrors our own ethos as does the DVS people-first approach. 2022 will be an exciting year for both businesses.”
