The contractor Lodge Service has opened a new LODG-IC Intelligence Centre at offices at Ladbroke Grove, west London. The new intelligence centre will monitor and manage CCTV, electronic point of sale (EPoS), access control and alarms and besides offer mobile key-holding security response, and on-site manned guarding.
The company marked its 100th anniversary last year, and is the longest serving independent consultancy in the UK, says owner and CEO Stuart Lodge, the grandson of Roy Lodge, founder of the business in the USA in 1919. He says: “The demand for security services has changed because of the impact of COVID-19 on the retail and corporate sectors in particular, and we are responding to that with internet-based services that offer fast connectivity and mobile guarding services, often within 24 hours of an enquiry.
“We are seeing particular demand for securing empty premises, warehouse and logistics networks and the remote monitoring of properties of all types. We help through the integration of online security, protection and building management services within an intelligent, connected system, managed from our intelligence centre.”
Lodge Service is running workshops, on-site and online, for building managers and owners to review their security needs and options as they have evolved during the period of coronavirus. Stuart Lodge says: “Building use and occupancy have changed as Government rules and safety guidelines have shifted during the pandemic. This means that the threats and risks are different and there are new needs arising – such as for queue and crowd management, to supervise social distancing for office and shop visitors and to ensure that they are masked appropriately.
“The shift in consumer buying behaviour from the high street to online means that there is an escalating need for protecting logistics chains, from the warehouse to delivery.”
Connection of a user’s CCTV, intruder alarm, EAS (electronic article surveillance) and other security systems to the intelligence centre in London can often reduce the costs of onsite management and security staffing, he says.
The service starts with a security audit to identify areas of potential risk for the organisation, whether this is from threats to staff, internal fraud, stock theft, shoplifting, criminal damage or other causes. The service includes perimeter protection, safe car parks and security design and layout to meet the UK police’s Secured by Design standard, with local Police Architectural Liaison Officers (ALOs).
