by Mark Rowe

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) launches its 2020 celebration of the industry’s finest, the British Security Awards, starting with the regional rounds of the security personnel categories.

The awards on Wednesday, July 1 at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, in central London will celebrate the work by security officers and teams across the UK’s private security industry, as well as acknowledging innovations in technology and business and the career contributions made by long-serving industry stalwarts. The first phase of the awards will be to identify the regional winners and national finalists of the five personnel categories; Best Newcomer, Best Team, Security Manager of the Year, Outstanding Act and Service to the Customer.

Nominations opened on December 3 for all the five personnel categories, and finalists of each category will go forward to the national stage on July 1. The regional winners will also be recognised before the finals at events around the country.

The industry will be covered by 16 categories in 2020 overall including: Innovative Security Project, National and International Partnership, Entrepreneur of the Year, Business of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, Contribution to the Industry and Bravery. Entries for these categories will open on January 31.

Mike Reddington, pictured, Chief Executive of the BSIA, said: “The British Security Awards is the national event to recognise the talent and commitment of our industry’s finest. The scale of achievement from across each sector is quite remarkable and recognises acts of untold bravery, ingenuity in the application of new technology and successful delivery of projects by forward thinking self-starters. We are looking forward to recognising and rewarding these exemplars for the dedication to their chosen profession, and welcome stakeholders and colleagues from across the industry to share in this celebration of excellence.”
