barox at NSI Summit

by Mark Rowe

barox, the manufacturer of professional standard switches, media converters and IP extenders designed for video applications, will be among the exhibitors at the NSI Summit, running at The VOX, on Thursday, March 21, at the Birmingham NEC.

barox will be on the Clear Vision Technologies stand. Their range of Powerhaus switches have been designed to cope with the requirements of IP video. To cope with a greater number of connected cameras versus standard switches, Powerhaus switches also have increased backplane capacities. Their specification features Enhanced Device Management and trouble-shooting, including PoE monitoring and consumption control, with device scheduling for energy saving, cable diagnostics and SNMP support.

Using barox Active Camera Tracking and Fault Logging, system cameras are automatically ‘pinged’ to check their operational status. If any camera or cameras fail to respond, the switch automatically withdraws the PoE (Power over Ethernet) supply and initiates a camera re-boot, the fault is also logged. barox Fault Logging gives installers a diagnostic insight to pinpoint and remedy network and device issues.

And in a time of the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0, where companies are ever more relying on IP security to protect from cyber attacks, all barox switches feature built-in cyber security, the firm says. Further device management is offered via Powerhaus individual Port Power Delay Mode, which allows the gradual step-up of power to ports – to prevent overloads occurring. PoE Consumption Control Trigger points can also be configured, to flag-up a device if its power consumption is increasing beyond normal parameters.

At NSI Summit, staff from barox and Clear Vision Technologies will be on hand to demonstrate the specialist barox video switch range, with a GUI demonstration showing connected device activity and network diagnostics, as well as a look at the new Milestone barox plug-in.

Visitors booking free barox product training, to run at their own premises, will each receive a barox branded Swiss army knife.
