Water treatment site IP

by Mark Rowe

A water treatment site has upgraded its security.

The aims were to allow processing of visitors and monitor site activity. The CCTV was installed by Maidstone-based Secure Engineering (http://www.secureeng.co.uk/).

Fitted were several Samsung Megapixel cameras, a number of PTZs, and ANPR to log all vehicles on site. In the control room centre, all visual data is stored on a Samsung NVR with all data logs and audio. The East Sutton, Kent installers report that the previous system did not provide the overall coverage or the fine detail required to run the site entrance, hence the IP Megapixel CCTV.

The previous monitoring system was based on analogue which required miles of coaxial cables. Visitors would generally experience a delay to access the site as a physical guard had to give approval. The new system now allows approval from a control room due to the clarity and speed that an IP system offers.
