UK site contracts

by Mark Rowe

The Bromsgrove-based contractor GMS Security Services Ltd reports a stream of security contracts with the building materials supplier CEMEX. GMS initially won the tender in June to provide manned guarding for CEMEX’s flagship cement plant in Warwickshire. After the first few months, GMS have since been awarded contracts across other UK sites.

Prior to issuing a tender, CEMEX conducted a ‘mystery shopper’ style tour of several industrial estates in the area to review security suppliers. They came across GMS at a Jaguar Land Rover site. GMS were then invited to tender among nine other security firms, where the cement firm says the GMS proposal stood out as it went above and beyond requirements, incorporating technology into the traditional manned guarding service.

Colin Jones, UK Head of Security at CEMEX said: “We were looking for a security provider who could deliver a robust and continuous security solution to our Rugby site. GMS were able to demonstrate longevity and a true security partnership with their customers, instilling the confidence they were the right fit for CEMEX. What has really impressed us, is the way the GMS management reward and engage with their frontline officers. There is a genuine ethical approach to the business which makes them stand out from the competition.”

GMS is now providing a variety of security across CEMEX sites including their headquarters in Rugby.
