Turkish install

by Mark Rowe

More than 1,800 video surveillance cameras supplied by Hanwha Techwin have been installed at local authority and government buildings around the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in Turkey. Kocaeli near Istanbul is one of the largest municipalities in Turkey with a population of 1.8 million people.

Hanwha Techwin has worked over the last 12 months with ten installation companies who were awarded the installation contracts for various phases of a project which has seen a large number of models specified from the Hanwha Techwin range of Wisenet cameras. The manufacturer reports that each of the 1800 was selected to ensure they were able to operate effectively and capture quality images in their installed locations, regardless of the site conditions or lighting.

Among them are about 300 Wisenet Lite SNO-L6083R 2 megapixel weatherproof network infra-red bullet cameras. As is the case with the 134 SND-L6083R 2 megapixel network IR dome cameras also installed, the SNO-L6083Rs come with motion detection, privacy masking zones, audio support, PoE (Power over Ethernet) and an SD/SDHC memory slot. They also feature LDC (Lens Distortion Correction), which compensates for the image distortion that can occur with wide angle lenses.

A ‘hallway view’ function for the monitoring of narrow vertical areas such as corridors, is suitable for government buildings. It enables the camera to capture images with a 9:16 x 3:4 aspect ratio that works effectively in tall and narrow spaces, with the added bonus of minimising bandwidth and video storage.

Some 140 of the installed cameras are from the Wisenet Q series. These feature H.265 compression and WiseStream, a complementary compression technology which the developers say dynamically controls encoding, balancing quality and compression according to movement in the image. When WiseStream is combined with H.265, bandwidth efficiency can be improved by up to 75 per cent it is claimed compared to current H.264 compression.

Depending on the number of cameras installed at each building. Hanwha Techwin has also supplied four, eight or 16 channel recorders. A total of 74 NVRs have been deployed.

Yasin Altas, Country Manager for Hanwha Techwin Europe said: “We are proud to have been entrusted to fulfil the requirements of this prestigious video surveillance project. Having innovative, competitively priced products was a major factor in Hanwha Techwin winning this contract. Equally important, we were also able to demonstrate to the client that our ‘WE MOVE with trust’ philosophy is shared by every member of the Turkish team and this would ensure that we would always strive to offer unbeatable pre and post sales support.

“The positive and generous feedback we have had from the client confirms we have kept our promises, and as a result, we are looking forward to the opportunity of being invited to supply our cameras and NVR solutions for future projects.”
