Torch marked

by msecadm4921

An Olympic Torch bearer’s torch has been protected from theft at a recent property marking event in Bexhill. Rupert Mitchell, a 35-year-old Bexhill man with Downs Syndrome, carried the torch through his home town on July 17.

He is having the torch engraved but after hearing about Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing Team’s property marking initiative, Operation Marker, his mother thought it would be a good idea to get the torch marked too. It will be marked with a UV pen to protect it from theft and identify it as his, if stolen.

Operation Marker has been running since May with local Neighbourhood Policing Officers helping to protect around 209 items of property by security marking them and giving out hundreds of UV pens to Rother residents to take home and mark their own property with.
