TFM extension at Southwark

by Mark Rowe

Interserve, the support services contractor, has been awarded a two year contract extension to provide total facilities management (TFM) services for Southwark Council, worth over £10m, the FM firm reports. Interserve has provided facilities services to the south London borough council for five years.

An extended facilities management contract will see Interserve continue to provide a range of services, including security, mechanical and electrical services, cleaning, helpdesk, portering and pest control at over 90 sites across the borough, including corporate buildings, care homes, day centres, and 13 libraries.

Martin Burholt, managing director for communities at Interserve, said: “Our partnership with Southwark Council has enabled us to understand the needs of their wider community. We bring a wealth of experience in providing expert services in local government, making us well equipped to source the right solutions.”

And Paul Symington, head of corporate facilities management at Southwark Council, said: “Interserve has demonstrated that it understands our requirements and consistently delivers to a high standard. Their can do and flexible approach has enabled us to develop a partnering relationship that is providing the best facilities management support for our community.”

Separately, Interserve has a new contract for the refurbishment and upgrade of Rotherham Interchange for South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE). A £12m scheme will see at the bus station in Rotherham town centre the installation of new lighting, glazing, seating, flooring, CCTV and passenger information displays; as part of the Rotherham Town Centre Masterplan, regeneration led by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
