Spurs CCTV

by Mark Rowe

Tottenham Hotspur’s Training Academy featured in the first Security TWENTY 13 conference earlier this year; here is more about its CCTV.

The Premier League club has a new training academy in Enfield, north London. Among the security system, X-SERIES dome cameras from Redvision.

MD Ray Anderson, MD at the Barking-based installer Classic Security Solutions says: “We needed suppliers that could work with us to design a bespoke security system for the Training Academy. Redvision successfully demonstrated a proven track record for reliability and functionality and was fairly priced. The X-SERIES dome cameras were simple to integrate with a Pelco IP-based system and operated extremely well over the site’s fibre optic network infrastructure. Furthermore, Redvision also offered outstanding service and technical support. The visual appearance of the cameras was very important and needed to be sympathetic to the new buildings’ aesthetics and surroundings. The Redvision X-SERIES dome cameras were ideal, with their rugged design and bespoke colour options – a green was chosen to match the site.”

The domes are externally mounted where rain can affect visibility, so the built-in wiper option was essential in removing droplets from the camera’s field of view. The cameras helped the academy meet its green requirements. It uses infra-red LED lighting at night, removing the need for site security lighting. This means energy consumption and running costs are low at 48W, similar to that of a small light bulb.

About the Tottenham Training Academy

It comprises 22 outdoor football pitches, a three storey training centre, security building, single storey groundsman’s lodge and large car park. The training centre building itself contains a full-sized indoor pitch, medical facilities, fitness suite, canteen, learning centre and media centre.
